The Irish curriculum describes algorithmic core concepts as: "construct algorithms using appropriate sequences, selections/conditionals, loops and operators to solve a range of problems, to fulfil a specific requirement" and the English expect learners to "use sequence, selection, and repetition in programs". This Lightning Talk challenges these requirements, when parallelism and sub-programs are readily used in order to provoke further discussion on the importance of computing concepts.
